May has been a month of coughing. Car sagas. And resting, lots and lots of resting.
I love skeleton leaves. Found this one on the table outside. Isn’t it just wonderful?
There is a tale or two behind this gargoyle, first bought in Tongeren, Belgium when we lived in Maastricht, Holland over 25 years ago. We bought it and hubby then had to carry it down the hill to the car, about a half mile, it was very heavy. I gave it to my mother as a birthday or Christmas present I can’t remember which. When my mother died not many years later it ended up in my step witches garden. When my father died it was meant to come back to use, but my stepwitch ‘forgot’ to send it with the rest of the items we were rescuing from her. I told her, it wasn’t a problem and she could keep and think of me every time she saw it. It was quickly returned. I love his pensive look, and he has weathered so nicely.
The amazing show the clematis gave us this month.
This month I begun hand writing out my old poems, I’ve finished a whole book now, approx 150+ poems (some have 2 versions). It was a project and a half and I wavered between loving it, and hating the mistakes I kept making.
I absolutely love this new carpet, the whole room is rather green, or will be, and the sofa is green so I decided POP was needed. Pop it does indeed. I bought matching coloured cushions too.
I’ve kept this piece of paper, just the one piece, for about 15 years. Finally I had a poem I could read se as an excuse to write on it. I now want to scrumple it up and take a photo of that.
Did you know that in West Yorkshire grapes are grown and wine made? We went on a bit of a tour, courtesy of a cheapo bargain, these are the vines all ready for a growth spurt in between the rain.
Pink valerian in the garden.
Rugby again, rows of folded seats. I just like the pattern.
We went to take the car for an MOT, and stopped off ina very kitsch cafe for a cuppa. I took a few photos mainly because I wanted to have reference for a poem or prose piece at a later date, but also because of the 6 women having afternoon tea out talking of holidays and the coast of Spain where it joins Portugal and I wanted to remember it.
So that’s it for this month. Let’s see what next month brings.
If you have enjoyed my ramblings I’d love for you to click the ❤️. It pleases the social algorithm, lets others know there’s something interesting here, as well as letting me know you liked it and giving me a little virtual hug. Without virtual hugs I have been know to get sad 😜. Shares are good too and a comment buoys me up even more 😁 A comment of what you liked, what you didn’t etc would be most gratefully appreciated.
That carpet is so dreamy.
These photos made my day! Meaning filled and beautiful. Thank you!
