(I have been using patterns by Claire Garland from Dot Pebbles Knit for most of these little animals. She has a fab Instagram account. Shoes are sadly not made by me but from various sellers on Etsy.)
Hello Knitting Cabbage Heads,
(I write up the story of these froglets because their stories happen mainly over on Notes, and I know some people only see emails not Notes)
There are secret projects happening behind the scenes here are Red Cabbage house and so I’ve been a little slow posting. For that I apologise, though I’m sure you will all be happy with what I have going on. My fingers are a little tired and sore with tiny stitch knitting. So what have I made for you all recently?
Let me introduce you to the very first frog family’s story. It began a while ago when I was struggling with the arthritis in my fingers and so decided to tidy my yarn box. I say box, that doesn’t give you an indication of its size. (And this is after a HUGE declutter a couple of years back) This box is the size of a decent coffee table, and houses what was about 1/10th of my stack, and is now about 1/2 of it.
Bought in approx 1993 from the now debunked The Pier. It has held yarn for most of its life. Anyhoo, in its depths I found some speckled DK (double knitting) weight acrylic yarn I’d bought as a set. And 4mm needles being a lot easier on the old joints decided to make some larger frogs.

They were all rather rambunctious little darlings and their personalities rife! They grew up and spent a whole day causing chaos.

Once I got them under control their antics didn’t end. This frog decided to play hide and seek under the sofa cushions and ended up rather flat, and needed some stuffing shifting surgery.
This frog, the first to be clothed, was accidentally skewered by a darning needle and needed two of the others to come rescue her. Luckily she survived without any complications.

Once they all had clothing they became a bit more respectable and began finding homes. These 3 went to live in Canada and the USA.

That left 3. Two were used in a photo with two smaller frogs and became a good image for a family. And so the idea was born when a lovely lady asked for a frog family.
The two smaller frogs were not available and so I asked the adoptee to chose their ‘kids’. These were the tadpoles left in thenFrog Pool of Life and the dark green and a lilac were chosen and given those limbs

Both of these were adventurous frogs and said their names were Brianna and Owain - good Celtic strong names. Their clothes needed to be able to tackle the adventures they were going to have.

Aren’t they cute and yet sophisticated? Mum and Dad, Lavender and Parsley, cool characters.

And as a family? Just awwwwww and squeeeeee.
They will be off to their new home in the US soon.
So that’s all folks. Till next time peeps, Tx
Froglets🐸, other animals🐇🦊🦡🐭🐘🦏🦎🦥🦧etc, and other miniatures are (or will be) available from me on here (message me). I am no longer even attempting to sell on Etsy. They are considered collectibles, are unsuitable for under 14s due to the wires, are not CE/UKCA tested (collectibles do not need to be), and are therefore priced as such. Also contact me here if you fancy something you see or don’t see, I’m open to suggestions. I do have ME/CFS and photographing them etc all takes a lot of energy and is a very slow process. I do knit to order too, but be aware a froglet with a jumper takes up to a week for me to make on average. The smaller they are the longer they take as they are more intricate and fiddly. Thank you muchly.
If you have enjoyed my ramblings I’d love for you to click the ❤️. It pleases the social algorithm, lets others know there’s something interesting here, as well as letting me know you liked it and giving me a little virtual hug. Without virtual hugs I have been know to get sad 😜. Shares are good too and a comment buoys me up even more 😁 A comment of what you liked, what you didn’t etc would be most gratefully appreciated.
THIS is what the world needs so much more of. Grateful! <3
You know, says the retired minister, FROG stands for Fully Rely On G-d.. I love your "family" and glad they "arrivit"
