(I have been using patterns by Claire Garland from Dot Pebbles Knit for most of these little animals. She has a fab Instagram account. Shoes are sadly not made by me but from various sellers.)
Hello Knitting Cabbage Heads,
(I write up the story of these froglets because their stories happen mainly over on Notes, and I know some people only see emails not Notes)
Agnetha didn’t emerge from the Pool of Life in the normal way and jumped the queue a little bit. When discussing with NJ about the different frogs we could use for the book of Franklin (available here) the idea of different frogs was floated including a sparkly frog or a glow in the dark frog. I didn’t have any of those kinds of yarn at the time and so it was shelved. But of course once an idea gets into my head I was subconsciously on the look out for yarn. Anyways, I found a yarn and it tickled my fancy. It wasn’t expensive so I thought why not. It wasn’t glow in the dark but it was very sparkly.
Knitting it up was very different to my usual yarns. This had absolutely no give and doing increases and decreases was an interesting prospect. As usual I just concentrated on each stitch and living slowly in the moment. I find not rushing and being slow helps me to contemplate each stitch and it’s a meditative experience.
Normally once the eyes are added I can mould the head a bit but this yarn wasn’t budging. But look at that cute little face with ‘fluffy’ spiky yarn around it. At this point she was already beginning to whisper her name, though it took me a while to understand her as she’s quite shy and it wasn’t what I was expecting.

I popped her into the Pool of Life where she quickly befriended the remaining tadpoles. They have been very patient recently and I shall get back to them soon. The usual arms and legs were acquired and I realised she was whispering Agnetha. Yes, after then ABBA singer, sparkly froglet is a massive ABBA fan. I don’t know where she got the necklace, she must have been rummaging in my bits and bobs box, from but it has never left her.

I finished off her legs at a cricket match. She very much enjoyed sitting outside under the shade of a tree watching the cricket. She seemed to enjoy learning the rules too, but most of the time she was humming ABBA songs under her breath.

Once home we needed to find her some shoes. She chose some shoes, but once again she was very polite and quite and told me she would really like some that were more disco so we spent some time searching and I ordered some for her to try on later. Until then these green ones suited quite well.
Clothing wise she didn’t want much, just a mini skirt with glitter. It’s hot work being a dancing disco diva. And who am I to argue when not given a lot of work?
Whilst we waited for the new shoes to arrive Agnetha was very helpful reassuring the new froglets who were getting limbs next. She was a very calming and helpful gal.

All too soon it seemed, those shoes arrived. She was so excited! We had a little trying on session to see whether gold or silver would be best. After messing around with one of each on each foot she made her decision. Gold matched the edging in her skirt most so that’s what she went for.

Having gathered all her bits and pieces around her, a glittery disco ball, a shiny guitar, and a silver ballon, she informed me she needed one more thing before she could go to her new home. An ABBA album. Gosh these froglets don’t ask for much. So on to it I got and ta-da an ABBA album was made.

She is off to live in America now and all the little froglets will miss her, as will I. I hope her disco dancing days never end.
So that’s all folks. Till next time, Tx
Froglets🐸, other animals🐇🦊🦡🐭🐘🦏🦎🦥🦧etc, and other miniatures are (or will be) available from me on here (message me). You can also find them at My Website. They are considered collectibles, are unsuitable for under 14s due to the wires, are not CE/UKCA tested (collectibles do not need to be), and are therefore priced as such. Also contact me here if you fancy something you see or don’t see, I’m open to suggestions. I do have ME/CFS and photographing them etc all takes a lot of energy and is a very slow process. I do knit to order too, but be aware a froglet with a jumper takes up to a week for me to make on average. The smaller they are the longer they take as they are more intricate and fiddly. Thank you muchly.
If you have enjoyed my ramblings I’d love for you to click the ❤️. It pleases the social algorithm, lets others know there’s something interesting here, as well as letting me know you liked it and giving me a little virtual hug. Without virtual hugs I have been know to get sad 😜. Shares are good too and a comment buoys me up even more 😁 A comment of what you liked, what you didn’t etc would be most gratefully appreciated.

So glad that Abba and the wonderful game of cricket are not mutually exclusive... "Gimme gimme gimme a six after midnight..."
Wonderful!
