(I have been using patterns by Claire Garland from Dot Pebbles Knit for most of these little animals. She has a fab Instagram account. Shoes are sadly not made by me but from various sellers.)
Hello Knitting Cabbage Heads,
(I write up the story of these froglets because their stories happen mainly over on Notes, and I know some people only see posts not Notes)
It’s been a while since I posted an origin story. I got a bit lost in the making and forgot the retelling so apologies for that. I’ve been holding back on Caspian for a while as I’ve been waiting for an item to turn up in the post and it’s been stuck at Yodels holding facility for weeks now. The poor boy doesn’t need to wait any longer for his story to be told.
Caspian waited a long, long time to escape from the Pool of Life. He is there in the middle. I can’t quite remember which of the two pale blues he was at tadpole stage but he’s one of those. (Poor soul, I hope he doesn’t have a complex over that.)
By the time I got round to him the Pool had shrunken greatly and he was one of the last 9. I started out with 54 I believe at the beginning of the year. That’s him on the far left in the middle. All the froglets were very patient as newer tadpoles came and went before them.
Anyhoo, eventually he did get chosen though and was rather happy, singing excitedly at me - a clue to his chosen profession. I most often make legs first as then they get to stand and observe the world.

Caspian was eager to have arms to play his instruments. Here he is supervising the work as I was getting to the important fingers.
Sometimes their faces get a bit squashed with all the manhandling of threading wires through their bodies and sewing on the limbs. But a little bit of tender massage and wiggling of the eyes often sorts it out. I am always amazed that even with using the same yarn, the same safety eyes, the same stuffing, the same placement, that they all end up with different expressions. Arms finally completed and boots chosen. (These have become my favourite boots and I will need to buy more soon.)

Of course by this point he had whispered his name and that he was a bard. Not a singer, not a composer, and old fashioned bard. So it was obvious what his costume would be. Trousers first, tied up with string yarn.

Then a lovely waistcoat and a tiny pocket watch. It’s the best size for him and I made a little chain so it can be popped in and out of the tiny pocket on his waistcoat.

Then a cloak. He was a bit anxious for that and chided me for being slow. Little did he know it was already made and blocking.
Here he is modelling it.

Then he informed me that he needed a bag to hold all his scrolls. I quite like the quiet concentration of tiny stitches in felt.

So then I needed to make all his scrolls and manuscripts.

So of course we had to have a little photo shoot. I love setting this all up.

We were still waiting for a lute. They are hard to source and I’m not quite up to the at. I found someone who would 3D print one but I messed up a bit on the scale 😂😂😂. It also arrived broken.

So a larger one was order and it didn’t turn up for weeks! Do I have the skills to make one, sadly I don’t think so, but never mind. It’s here, needs painting still, but Caspian is very happy!
Caspian is available for adoption. Just message me.
And so that’s all folks. Till next time, Tx
Froglets🐸, other animals🐇🦊🦡🐭🐘🦏🦎🦥🦧etc, and other miniatures are (or will be) available from me on here (message me). You can also find them at My Website. They are considered collectibles, are unsuitable for under 14s due to the wires, are not CE/UKCA tested (collectibles do not need to be), and are therefore priced as such. Also contact me here if you fancy something you see or don’t see, I’m always open to suggestions. I do have ME/CFS and making and photographing them etc all takes a lot of energy and is a very slow process. I do knit to order too, but be aware a froglet with a jumper takes up to a week for me to make on average. The smaller they are the longer they take as they are more intricate and fiddly. Thank you muchly.
If you have enjoyed my ramblings I’d love for you to click the ❤️. It pleases the social algorithm, lets others know there’s something interesting here, as well as letting me know you liked it and giving me a little virtual hug. Without virtual hugs I have been know to get sad 😜. Shares are good too and a comment buoys me up even more 😁 A comment of what you liked, what you didn’t etc would be most gratefully appreciated.

What a beauty
Just wow! 🤩
