It’s Poetry Wednesday - Spin Off Poetry
Using up phrases thought of for other poems but I decided they needed a poem of their own
Hello all you wonderful people,
Fancy seeing you here again. I decided not to inflict my ancient poetry on you this week. I’m saving that delight for next probably. I shall see how what mood I’m on when I start writing this up. Today I’m feeling a little more playful, not sure why as it’s been a bit of a week, MIL had a fall last week and is in hospital now, she’s lost masses of mobility and they won’t let her home yet, and it will probably be a good few weeks yet as she needs physio, and actually her cognition isn’t wonderful either. She banged her head and gave herself a nasty concussion and really wasn’t with it and quite combative for a while, and she’s still not right. And then we went to see here and that did me in - 6 hours in the car, 2 hours plus at the hospital was not good for my ME/CFS and I came over very sick and dizzy for a couple of days. However, surprisingly I’m in a good mood so I have decided you can have a recent poem that isn’t full of the dark images I had been intending.
With my lovely
group I often end up starting a good few poems that I reject for the subject in hand that week. This one comes from the collection of phrases over the week and I knew it was a goodie but it didn’t fit the remit of that actual week. I’m still not convinced it is complete, I sort of feel it should go through lots of science but I’m too tired to write long poetry so for the moment you are getting a truncated, but possibly also finished, poem.A lot of my poetry over the last few weeks has referenced flying. I’m not finished writing about it yet though.
Scientific Disappointment
We are all victims of physics.
Drastically leaning houses.
Two tailed dogs.
Children who are
‘A prodigy in the making’.
Human hyperbole overtaking
Common sense once again.
Gravity forces us down
Denies us the ability to fly.
I want to fly so much.
Soaring high, freely,
No fear of falling,
Skimming low,
touching clouds and rooftops alike
Just pure joy
But physics refuses my whim.
My perfect superhero power denied.
Short and brief this week, and not too much to struggle understanding.
If you have enjoyed my ramblings I’d love for you to click the ❤️. It pleases the social algorithm, lets others know there’s something interesting here as well as letting me know you liked it and giving me a little virtual hug. Without virtual hugs I have been know to get sad 😜. Shares are good too and a comment buoys me up even more 😁 A comment of what you liked, what you didn’t etc would be most gratefully appreciated.

I love the wordplay in this one!
