Photos of July/August 2024
A plethora of photos some good, some bad, one amazing.
This post is too long for email, press to be taken through to see all the pictures.
To be honest, I forgot to do a July photos and here we are in the middle of August - just how did that happen? So six weeks this ‘month’ and 6 weeks at the end of September. So here we go, a few pictures of the last 6 weeks.
This is a wonderful poppy in our garden. Last year these were rampant ina local garden and we were encouraged to take some seed heads. I love poppies so R was duly sent out to collect some and they have been planted in our large container this year. We shall gather the seeds and spread them all over the garden ready for next year. I just love their frilliness.
I love it when succulents flower. We went it my friend Linda’s for a few days and her garden is wonderful, I didn’t really take enough photos but she has a lovely wild flower patch, roses, apples, succulents etc. and I always feel blessed and in awe of her skills. I just don’t have her amazing vision.
Flowers Whilst with Linda we spent a day exploring the Roman ruins at Chedworth, Oxfordshire. Lots of amazing mosaics, beautiful patterns, lichen, wood grain, pretty plants, etc. a very ND set of pics.
A day out at a Roman ruins We spent the next day having a very short wander in Lechlade and these canoes caught my eye. The colour, the shape etc.
Colourful canoes This is the amazing Kelmscott Manor, home of William Morris. It’s absolutely stunning. The stray gentleman is R my husband, 5e wheelchair mine, I use it for days out as a way to manage my energy so I don’t cause a relapse by overdoing it. Mind you that doesn’t take much. This day, despite the wheelchair, wiped me out for days. We were granted a lovely day and the tea and cake was fab too. We even had excitement in the form of a pigeon in the gift shop that staff were trying to catch. The ave use of hollyhocks was wonderful.
Kelmscott Manor These little critters have been flying off my needles this month. The needles are tiny at 2mm and the stitches tiny. We have a dormouse, a Guinea pig, a chicken, a mouse, 2 rabbits, a mole, a badger, a fox, and an orangutang. I love their boots (not made by me.) They have been Ona few adventures and many more are in the pipeline.
A menagerie fo knitted animals Sweet peas. I just love the smell, reminiscent of childhood where my mum grew them up the broad bean poles and I used to run in-between them soaking up the scent.
i wrote a poem that also consisted of a knitting pattern, I needed to check it worked and this little beauty is the result. 💗
Knitted heart Last month we removed the last of the ivy off this wall, loads had been torn down in the winter storms so we decided to take the rest off and replace with something prettier - probably roses. It was just a single skin wall and fairly precarious at the height it was so with the permission and supervisory of next door R and J removed a few stones. It’s much more stable now and will be all the better for it. The stones will be reused elsewhere in the garden.
Wall works We picked up our new car (leased), it’s a full electric as we have solars and barriers so can charge it cheaply etc - and a 330mile range. The colour is ‘obsession blue’ and I love it, it’s a nice car inside too. Bigger than our last car as with kids living back at home we needed a bigger boot. But just enjoy the colour.
Stopped on the way back from a rugby match to order food, and I took advantage to snap the glorious early evening views and the blue skies.
Country views It was our anniversary a few days ago, and R booked for us to take the Settle to Carlisle train going over the Ribblestone Viaduct (from thenHarry Potter movies) turns out you don’t see much from the train especially when the weather is a bit grotty. We visited Carlisle cathedral though and the circles in the station roof were fun.
Anniversary journey And the best photo is saved for last, a reward for making it this far. On the train we met a sweet dog and this is its nose that reminded me of a highland cow.
So that’s it for these 6 weeks. Let’s see what the next bring.
If you have enjoyed my ramblings I’d love for you to click the ❤️. It pleases the social algorithm, lets others know there’s something interesting here, as well as letting me know you liked it and giving me a little virtual hug. Without virtual hugs I have been know to get sad 😜. Shares are good too and a comment buoys me up even more 😁 A comment of what you liked, what you didn’t etc would be most gratefully appreciated.
Such beautiful photos, but I love your knitted animals/characters. That last image in the pink sweater and shoes is just charming!
The knit animals you create are so cute, Tam! And a lovely collection of photos. I really enjoy the one of the knit hamster looking out the window and the picture of the darling dog nose is of course delightful! :)
