Hello you lovely people,
Well September was wet at times with some great downpours. It went by fairly quietly as I was proactively resting for much of it.
This ugly ex servant bell cover has been bugging me for over 2 years. We do have some that work but this one didn’t. Upon investigation the wires no longer existed so it couldn’t be reinstated. So I finally decided to do something about it. Removed that tacky plastic - yes plastic - cover and replaced it with a much more in keeping example. No, it still doesn’t work but it does cover a gaping hole in the wall that would take a lot more work to make good. It now pleases me.

Esme was a little perturbed at being disturbed. How dare I use my craft room when she is sleeping in it.
A quick visit to the Brontë parsonage museum. R and R went on an interactive walk up on the moors with the dog and I mooched around the museum. I met a lovely lady and we had a chat about creativity in later years, and I bent the ear of a tour guide quizzing him on construction and renovation techniques employed.

I took time out from frogs and made Freddy here. The bright outfit won out so I need to make another fox for the pink jumper set. i also made a very misshapen shrew. I obviously went wrong somewhere.

Mist over the valley at sunset.
After a long summer break, art supplies have begun their yearly migration to the main bathroom. Here we see a nr. 3 soft bristle brush airing itself after a quick wash in the sink. It is day dreaming about the brush strokes William Morris would have made creating the original wallpaper design.
R and I took a few days away to sort of make up for my lack of participation in the Scotland holiday. A lot shorter drive - 1.5 hours - and just us. Off to near Lake Windermere in Cumbria. Got a deal on t’internet. Now I have to say I feel a bit aggrieved at our room. It’s fine, small, old, Travelodge fine, but fine. The bathroom leaves a bit to be desired. Rusty bath and filled badly in a couple of sections and dirty underneath where the side board met it, filthy light pull and emersion pull, stains in the wardrobe, mould in the window, hole in the curtain and missing curtain hooks. Then the shower was fritzed and didn’t work well either. Of course we didn’t complain. It was okay, I suppose. My thinking is that if you get people in on deals to sell rooms maybe make sure the rooms are up to scratch so they might want to come back. It might have been a deal but it wasn’t cheap either. But the view was nice.
Am I over picky?

Whilst photographing the views in Cumbria we came across with discarded ‘memento’ of a hopefully good time had. First of all I thought it was a paper napkin and I was going to clean it away. However, a pair of lacy red knickers around rusty barbed wire wasn’t something I wished to pick up. 😳

Houses, doorways, etc were a feature this month. Hill Top Beatrix Potter’s home. A red doorwayed house. A coffee shop we actively chose to go in and have a coffee purely because of the flags outside. Halloween display in Haworth. Beatrix Potter’s dollhouse. A little abode I picked up along the way (luckily no stamp duty due on this one).

The only picture of me this month, R doesn’t take pics of me and I hate the selfies I try to take so I don’t blame him really - I am a moany old witch most of the time 🧙♀️.
And lastly, a few Hallowe’en pics.

So that’s it for October, I didn’t take many pics other than Knitted Ones or Knitted Ones accessories. Roll on November, crunchy leaves, fallen acorns, and crisp chill days.
Till then, T x

"Esme was a little perturbed at being disturbed. How dare I use my craft room when she is sleeping in it." - Yes, I know that look from our own beloved cat!
The expression on the fox is excellent. I had a dear dog who looked just like that.
The shower in that lodging is ugly, but looks more like rust than filth. The mold on the wall, however, is a health issue. I would have looked for another place to stay.
