Hello Red Cabbage Head readers,
Many months ago I spent a very frantic week submitting poems to everywhere I could think of. And I discovered a small online magazine that only accepted tiny poems. I found this intriguing and began scouring my back catalogue (all of it as I’d never submitted before) I found a couple and then wrote one that just happened. They flowed as I wrote it and I edited it minimally as I wanted to submit them all asap.
Out of the four, this quickly written, minimally edited poem was the one that was accepted. I did like it, but I didn’t think it was the best of the 4. My brother spent a good 10 mins reading it and trying to analyse what I meant by it all, what my beliefs were that this poem held. It really isn’t that deep. It was just an image I had in my head I translated into words. This shows that poetry is so very subjective. Poems I’ve put on here I adore have inspired crickets and tumble weed. Poems I’ve put on here that I don’t like have inspired the most likes and comments. I can’t tell what is wanted so I just give it a try. You should just give it a try, you never know what might happen, and the worst is a no, which leaves you exactly back where you started, a zero sum activity. Nothing ventured, nothing gained as they say.
I thank tinywrenlit for accepting my poem, go check out the rest too.
The Ultimate Recycling When I’m gone someone else will fill the hole I left in the universe and my atoms will recycle into the void of another’s exit. My demise is never final. Published in tinywrenlit summer 2024
I’m not sure if I would ever change it, I know it was rushed, but now it’s been published it will have to stay as it is really.
That’s all folks, til next time. Tx
If you have enjoyed my ramblings I’d love for you to click the ❤️. It pleases the social algorithm, lets others know there’s something interesting here, as well as letting me know you liked it and giving me a little virtual hug. Without virtual hugs I have been know to get sad 😜. Shares are good too and a comment buoys me up even more 😁 A comment of what you liked, what you didn’t etc would be most gratefully appreciated.
Oooh I like it, deep but powerful!!
That’s a lovely poem.
