Hello Red Cabbage Head readers,
OPPs I completely lost track of time, and apparently today is Thursday not Wednesday and so I am a day late.
This is a poem I wrote a while ago when I was having trouble writing and spent a long time drawing instead. This isn’t the original drawing, sadly long gone, but one of my mother’s, also sadly long gone - the mother as well as the flower.
I appreciate how even younger me understood the wiseness of not pushing and that all creativity is art, even though younger me didn’t really understand what she had written. Hindsight is a great thing.
Flower
I wanted to write a poem But, instead, I drew a flower. Artistic endeavour takes many forms.
What are your go tos instead of relentlessly banging your head against the brick wall of writers block? Let me now below.
So that’s all folks, til next time, and hopefully on time next week.
If you have enjoyed my ramblings I’d love for you to click the ❤️. It pleases the social algorithm, lets others know there’s something interesting here, as well as letting me know you liked it and giving me a little virtual hug. Without virtual hugs I have been know to get sad 😜. Shares are good too and a comment buoys me up even more 😁 A comment of what you liked, what you didn’t etc would be most gratefully appreciated.
Both the poem and the little painting are lovely.
I don't have other artistic talent to turn to when writing won't come, but I do get a lot of satisfaction out of Duolingo (French and Portuguese); thrifting; framing random art, and rearranging books/school supplies/toys. Sometimes it feels like giving my hands something to do that makes a physical difference (or keeping my brain busy with language stuff) helps unlock the angsty part of me that is sure I will never write again.
Japanese Anemone are my favourite ❤️ Here's to the magic of creating, whatever form it takes.
