Hello Red Cabbage Head readers,
Firstly, I want to thank my first paid subscriber, I won’t name them as I don’t have permission, but oh boy, it has SO made my day. Thank you so much.
Secondly, my post of Saturday was about the words returning. And in between knitting a rather poor rhinoceros, post about that later when he’s finished, and resting lots I managed one more. The vision in my head is rather funny. And I’ve not quite captured it, but it’s on its way.
The Chaos of Unwilling Words
I chase the words around my paper
They jump and laugh and mock
I cannot make them sit where they should
They wriggle and squirm and tease.
They know I want them
They know I need them,
They know they nourish me,
Without them I am lesser
I beg them, pleading please
just stay still for a moment
Let me immortalise them
briefly in all the right places
But they giggle and snicker and run
and taunt my obvious ineptitude
Scorn my feeble attempts at persuasion
leaping off the page they escape
And the blank paper before me
holds only my frustration and tears.
So there, a poem about not writing a poem. Now back to that rhino!
Till next time.
If you have enjoyed my ramblings I’d love for you to click the ❤️. It pleases the social algorithm, lets others know there’s something interesting here, as well as letting me know you liked it and giving me a little virtual hug. Without virtual hugs I have been know to get sad 😜. Shares are good too and a comment buoys me up even more 😁 A comment of what you liked, what you didn’t etc would be most gratefully appreciated.
There's so much mischievous energy in this poem. The fun thing is, it feels like it's coming from the words and not you. You've given them a real personality.
