‘Something a Little Different’ - A Winter Adventure
First snow falls, a new coat and a new friend or two
Quick house keeping note - if you are here for poetry only you can set up what you receive by clicking on the relevant sections only. This post will go into the ‘Art Makes’ section. (I have been using patterns by Claire Garland from Dot Pebbles Knit for most of these little animals. She has a fab Instagram account. Shoes are sadly not made by me but from various sellers on Etsy and I may be trying to learn how to do it myself eventually. Anyway enough of the preamble.)
Dear Wintery Knitting Cabbage Heads,
We had our first winter snow fall here this week, and whilst it wasn’t a lot and melted quite quickly the Rabbit tribe decided to go out, against my advice, and make snow Angels, (not angles as I first wrote - as Delores has just whispered in my ear - I’m glad she is keeping me in check). Anyhow, they hoied it off outside and very quickly made some Angels before complaining bitterly about the cold, and the wet, and the way the snow stuck to their woolly fur.

I wanted to remind them that I did tell them what it would be like, but I bit my lip brushed them off and sat them in front of the fire.
Delores especially did a lot of very obvious wondering out-loud about inadequate clothing and how it was irresponsible to not provide a suitable outfit. So, chuckling to myself, I asked her if she’d like me to make her a coat.

Of course, she was thrilled at the prospect. I let her pick the colour, she was settled on green initially but went for one that matched her shoes and then I got to work sorting the pattern and making teeny tiny stitches.
I also made a scarf for her. I think she likes them.

Then, to be fair, I needed to make something for Bernard too, Little Rabbit wasn’t fussed saying her bee outfit was lovely and cosy anyway and shed the snow quite well. Bernard chose his own colour too, a demure brown, and we decided to make his jacket a little different than Delores’ coat. Which, of course, meant altering the pattern and I’m not a natural seamstress but he worked on it with me and I think we managed something suitable.

Then they all went to parade their new togs to the new froglets and regale them with stories of all the adventures they have been on. Found here - a garden adventure; a climbing adventure; a library adventure; a pumpkin patch adventure; and a Hallowe’en adventure. The froglets were ribbeted and longed to be finished enough to go on their own adventures.

So that’s all for today folks. I have many, many more legs, arms, and clothes to make to get those froglets adventuring. Til next time. Ta-ra.
These froglets🐸, other animals🐇🦊🦡🐭🐘🦏🦎🦥🦧etc, and other miniatures are (or will be) available in my Etsy store A Midnight Emporium. They are considered collectibles, are unsuitable for under 14s due to the wires, are not CE/UKCA tested (collectibles do not need to be), and are therefore priced as such. Or contact me here if you fancy something you see but I haven’t put in my shop. I do have ME/CFS and photographing and listing them all takes a lot of energy and is a very slow process. I do occasionally knit to order too, but be aware a froglet with a jumper takes around 3 to 4 days for me to make on average. The smaller they are the longer they take as they are more intricate and fiddly. Thank you muchly.
If you have enjoyed my ramblings I’d love for you to click the ❤️. It pleases the social algorithm, lets others know there’s something interesting here, as well as letting me know you liked it and giving me a little virtual hug. Without virtual hugs I have been know to get sad 😜. Shares are good too and a comment buoys me up even more 😁 A comment of what you liked, what you didn’t etc would be most gratefully appreciated.
I love the legless froglet story time 😁.
I do not knit. I came here for poetry - but who doesn’t love little creatures, alive in our imaginations? This is heaven for me…! So much love. I will never knit - but you feed my Inner Dollmaker! 💜💜💜
