Dear knitting people,
This is the visual story of how Foxy and Mole came into being. I’m going to try to a post on all of these animals. I am aware I’m quite a way behind too. Oops, sorry.
I have been using patterns by Claire Garland (@Dot Pebbles Knit) for most of these little anaimls. She has a fab Instagram account.
I was remiss with photographing the beginning of both of these animals as they seemed ‘odd’.
The first photo shows Foxy almost finished but with his ears on pinned on. I needed a very small amount of fluffy mohair yarn for the inner ear which I had to order. The second photo shows him with his new years and the third photo shows him with whiskers - which need swapping out for black ones - and standing in his new shoes. These shoes have been a revelation to me, they aren’t cheap but oh my! They do the job. I may look into making my own at some point but for now these were a brilliant help in getting my creations to stop falling over. These ones are from PSfabrics on Etsy. The fourth photo is Foxy out in the garden waving the rest off on an adventure.
I’m not sure on this particular pattern. I need to make it again and see if I can make it more to how I envisage.

Next was Moley. Now knitting in black is never my favourite and this again had aspects of the pattern that confused me - my problem not the patterns. I think he’s turned out okay but I need to try again. I do like his glasses. The whiskers need work, but moles do have a lot of whiskers and I think his fur should be knitted in chenille as moles have a very velvety coat. He has trousers and a waistcoat now. I always struggle to work out what colour to make these clothes.

I hope you have enjoyed this photo story of the making of Foxy and Moley - yet to have proper names. So that’s me signing off for now, till next time. If you have any suggestions for photo opportunities for the tribe, or any ideas for other animals you’d like to see let me know below. I do post updates on Notes more regularly if you want more regular updates.
If you have enjoyed my ramblings I’d love for you to click the ❤️. It pleases the social algorithm, lets others know there’s something interesting here, as well as letting me know you liked it and giving me a little virtual hug. Without virtual hugs I have been know to get sad 😜. Shares are good too and a comment buoys me up even more 😁 A comment of what you liked, what you didn’t etc would be most gratefully appreciated.
Love them!!
