Dear Red Cabbage Heads,
Well, I was going to write about my Christmas past and it was seeming rather difficult. I have issues with Christmas and I need to work through that.
So eventually I deleted the many drafts I’d written and then decided to look at Christmas trees through the years. And that was just plain boring and so I deleted it.
And then I tried Christmas traditions and that went down like a lead balloon in my mind.
So as ‘Do They Know it’s Christmas Time’ plays on the radio, I find making myself write about Christmas is having the wrong effect and I’m pushing against it more and more. So this… This is my attitude to Xmas this year. Summed up very succinctly by my father below circa 1980.
So, that’s all folks, til next time….
If you have enjoyed my ramblings I’d love for you to click the ❤️. It pleases the social algorithm, lets others know there’s something interesting here, as well as letting me know you liked it and giving me a little virtual hug. Without virtual hugs I have been know to get sad 😜. Shares are good too and a comment buoys me up even more 😁 A comment of what you liked, what you didn’t etc would be most gratefully appreciated.

I have big issues with Christmas as well but we are starting fresh this year and in a good place, which you have already helped with! Big virtual hugs to get you through!
Christmas is complicated and it shouldn't be, the consumerism surrounding the holiday made it that way. It was more magical when I was a little kid, but not always. We've been "uncomplicating" Christmas for the last 10 years or so...it's the season rather than the holiday, the Winter Solstice and returning to the light. I love enjoying the Christmas tree, I added extra lights to it for this dark time... I love the photo, it says it all.
