Christmas is complicated and it shouldn't be, the consumerism surrounding the holiday made it that way. It was more magical when I was a little kid, but not always. We've been "uncomplicating" Christmas for the last 10 years or so...it's the season rather than the holiday, the Winter Solstice and returning to the light. I love enjoying the Christmas tree, I added extra lights to it for this dark time... I love the photo, it says it all.
There is just so much pressure and this year I feel it’s too much. I want quiet and gentle traditions and less consumption. The returning light can’t come quickly enough for me.
Exactly how I’m feeling this year. I normally love Christmas, but this year I don’t have the energy/spoons or will to even slap on a fake smile for friends.
