Good for you for creating and sticking to your boundaries. I know you wrote this forever ago, but it gives me a better perspective on how to interact with relatives such as the one you referred to in your article. I need to learn to be a bit more patient and enforce boundaries like the ones you made. Rather than just avoiding them because I don't care for what comes out of their mouth most of the time haha. Thank you for writing this 😊

Welcome. When I go to visit them just for a couple of hours I’m not so inflexible on boundaries, I know I am coming away again and I try to make visits a little more comfortable and she is in her own home. I do push back a little but not to the extent I did whilst she lived with us. I do wear my headphones if she refuses to put her hearing aids in and continues to shout, or if she just doesn’t shut up for the whole two hours. She thinks I’m weird for that but hey, needs must and all that.
