Poetry Wednesday - yet another draft
My words have left me again as I’m in the middle of an ME/CFS crash, so this is VERY, VERY much a draft.
Here is a subscribe button, it helps keep you up to date with my ramblings, click it, go on I dare you! 😁
Hello poetry people,
Well, I didn’t really have anything thing for you this week, only drafts and knitting. And drafts about knitting. Last weeks escapades have drained me and even with my belovèd Lions Manes pills (the only way my brain fires atm) I’m struggling to think even mundane thoughts. I dislike this part of a crash and have previously written about it, or tried to, it’s difficult to write about not being able to think when you need to think to write and coming out of it and writing about it in retrospect doesn’t have the same feel or quality.
This draft poem was inspired by a dream I had about knitting poetry. There are washing lines blowing in the breeze full of knitted squares of different patterns that had poetry somehow entwined in them. Much more an actual art project than a poem I think. And I may do it if I get enough inspiration and energy.
This draft needs SO much work. But it’s poetry Wednesday and putting drafts out there does actually seem to help me see what’s wrong. (Most of it) It needs more ‘texture’.
Knitting With Words (working title) cast on using cable-cast throughout joints click and needles clack rib, starting with purl, p2, k2 to end soft yarn moves over flesh and metal k14, kfb, twist yarn front to back, k to end the pattern difficult, requiring persistence 10 rows of stocking stitch, starting with purl the words deserted, left, moved on, p1, k1, k2tog, change the design subtly, found one more capable, more worthy cut yarn B, reattach yarn A a lack of written expression Short rows, wrap and turn, shape gives an old art creative voice k1, psso, k14, k2tog, k to end an alternate skill devoid of words with RS facing sl all stitches to RH needle space to think, space to exist, pick up stitches along main edge making whimsy to catch attention p2tog, p to last 2 st, p2tog words are knitting, knitting is words. cast off knit wise, sew in all ends
So that’s all for today folks, from sunny (what a surprise) Yorkshire, watching the view from my bed, as usual let me know what you think.
If you have enjoyed my ramblings I’d love for you to click the ❤️. It pleases the social algorithm, lets others know there’s something interesting here, as well as letting me know you liked it and giving me a little virtual hug. Without virtual hugs I have been know to get sad 😜. Shares are good too and a comment buoys me up even more 😁 A comment of what you liked, what ftyou didn’t etc would be most gratefully appreciated.
Well, this is freaking gorgeous. I'm so glad you shared it. This feels like way more than you're giving it credit for.
I like this a lot Tamsin - clever idea and quite mystical in a woolly sort of way. Have you tried removing some of the "ands" / "ans" ? It might make it even more magical. Sorry you're feeling rubbish - well done for wrtiing!
