Good day Red Cabbage Heads,
This was meant to go out yesterday, but it didn’t, either I forgot to schedule it or something weird happened. I’m going with something weird as it can’t possibly have been me. 😳😜
Two weeks ago over at
Nelly had us looking at poems about Eve in some what shape or form. And she asked us to give our own versions a try. I was busy wrestling with a couple of other poems that week that wouldn’t let go and allow me to tackle this prompt. Eventually they gave in, ready to settle into that space between draft and finished that I need (a good couple of months) whereby I can ignore their squeaking and concentrate on other stuff. So this is still in its draft form, it’s stopped nagging loudly and is now in the occasional squeak phase. In a couple of months time it may look completely different. If God had been kind.
What if
Eve wasn’t tempted by the snake?
or if
God had decided the snake was at fault?
or if
he understood his handiwork wasn’t complete
as his reckless impatience to programme his creations
adequately and had left them in a hostile environment?
or if
he hadn’t tested them and set them up to fail?
What if
God had been benevolent and forgiving
instead of punitive and petulant?
or if
his fragile ego was not hurt by the
simple eating of a fruit
or if
a human new to being, unversed and
unpractised in the art of avoidance
of manipulation, was not led astray by another.
What if
he’d been able to be mature and use the incident
as a learning experience rather than an excuse to
abandon the life he made,
and if
he’d nurtured and parented and forgiven
would hate exist?
would wars unfold?
would hoarding of wealth not exist?
Could we still live in paradise?
If only God had been kind, what could have been?
And there we are. That’s all for this week, ta-ra Tx
If you have enjoyed my ramblings I’d love for you to click the ❤️. It pleases the social algorithm, lets others know there’s something interesting here, as well as letting me know you liked it and giving me a little virtual hug. 🥰 Without virtual hugs I have been know to get sad 😜. Shares are good too and a comment buoys me up even more 😁 A comment of what you liked, what you didn’t etc would be most gratefully appreciated.
3 Red Cabbage Heads is a free and reader supported publication. Subscribe now to support me, you can also upgrade to a paid subscription, it doesn’t give you any more access to my words, but a handwritten note and a probably completely useless small, handmade by me, gift are yours and my eternal gratitude.
So... what if we'd been mindless puppets with no free will, whose actions have zero significance or consequences?
Sounds awful.
